Welcome to Haven House. Haven House is the oldest shelter of its kind in the United States, founded in 1964 by a local AlAnon group to shelter families of violent alcoholics. Our mission is to help women and their children on their way to a life free of violence and alcoholism/substance abuse, and provide a safe haven as well as counseling services for adults and children in residence; follow-up support services for former residents, and counseling for community clients who are not residents of the shelter. Haven House also helps educate the public about domestic violence and acts as an advocate for the needs of battered women with makers of public policy.
